Prajnesh Gunneswaran satisfied to have achieved milestone at French Open

Gunneswaran, 29, debuted at the Grand Slam level earlier this season after qualifying for the Australian Open.

The Indian ranked at No. 86 in the world, then debuted at the French Open after securing a direct Grand Slam main draw spot for the first time in his career.

Unfortunately for Gunneswaran, he didn't impress in his French Open debut as he picked up a straight-set loss against Bolivia's Hugo Dellien 6-1 6-3 6-1.

"It's definitely a milestone," Gunneswaran said post-match, per AFP. "I've worked a long time to get to this place and obviously I would've liked a different result today.

"But it's not the end of the world and I just have to keep getting better, put my head down and keep working.

"That's what got me this far and I'm hoping that it will continue."

Gunneswaran's focus now switches on the upcoming grass season.

If nothing goes wrong, the Indian will also make his Wimbledon debut in July.
