Roger Federer winning French Open would be the biggest surprise - Pundit

In an exclusive interview to Tennis World USA, the Kitzbuhel Open Tournament Director Alex Antonitsch commented on the Roger Federer's choice to play the clay season committing to Madrid and the French Open. "It was one of the biggest surprises", admitted Antonitsch. "I am probably one of the Roger Federer's biggest fans in the world, and all that he won, Majors and coming back to No. 1 after his injury was already surprising. He last played on clay in 2016 Rome almost three years ago. Winning the French Open would probably be the biggest surprise but not the first surprise ever by Federer."

On Fognini not playing in Kitzbuhel, Antonitsch added: "Fabio was in Kitzbuhel a couple of times but the most important thing was to bring Dominic and Fabio won a tournament last year in Los Cabos so they probably wanted him very badly to come back. I love the way Fabio is playing tennis, he is so talented, he is different and if he is in a good mood, he can cause trouble for anybody. Off the court, he is a great guy too. I understand that his behaviour is not the best one on the court but I like his gamestyle. He is a good one to watch. But if he played the way he did in Monte Carlo, he would be a top five player for sure. That's very easy to say. Can he win the French Open? That's a good one. He upset Rafael Nadal in the US Open, then he lost to Feliciano Lopez in the fourth round. For me, he has shown he can beat anybody. I am not sure he can keep this level for two weeks, though."
