Toni Nadal raises doubts on Roger Federer's fitness in five sets
In an interview to Tages Anzeiger, Rafael Nadal's uncle Toni commented on the history of tennis overall. "With 20, Roger Federer has three more than Rafael and five than Djokovic. It takes a hard work to win every Grand Slam title. But who knows what will happen. Roger is still playing great. We saw that in Indian Wells and Miami. The question mark is if he will bring this level in the Grand Slams for two weeks at the age of 37 years. I doubt it. He is not definitely the favorite in the French Open, while at Wimbledon it seems different again."
What's easier: learning from Nadal or Federer? "Federer is pretty close to the perfection looking at the technique. Playing like him is very, very difficult. But playing like Rafael or Djokovic is not easy either. It depends on the direction a player takes. A good coach adapts himself and sees what the chances are. For example, Rafael's technique on the forehand side is something unique."
Federer said that if his children want to become professional players, he would make them train in the Rafa Nadal Academy. So far, it has not happened. "They are still too young for that! We will see, of course they would be welcome. But you already have your father that can show you how it's done. Although there is something easier than imitating Federer."
"You have to work to improve every day. I did not train Rafael in order to be better than Federer. Or Djokovic. You cannot predict such things. He trained so that he could improve every day. Regardless of the conditions you bring him to, you can always improve."
