Yannick Maden, 29, collects biggest cheque of his career at French Open

German tennis player Yannick Maden didn't hide his happiness after earning a notable sum of money at Roland Garros but insists it's not only about the money as he wants to once again experience the French Open atmosphere.

The 29-year-old German had to earn a place in the French Open main draw as he made it past the qualifying event to make his main draw debut on the clay of Roland Garros. 

Maden, ranked at No. 114 in the world, then beat Belgian Kimmer Coppejans in the first round to clinch his maiden Grand Slam win and set up a second-round clash against record 11-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal. 

In the biggest match of his career -- played on Court Suzanne-Lenglen -- the German fell to the second-seeded Spaniard 6-1 6-2 6-4. 

Maden, who entered Roland Garros with $428,763 collected in prize money, landed the biggest cheque of his career at the French Open by winning £87,000 for making the second round. 

"Unbelievable to get paid that in two weeks regarding the trial to develop your hobby into your job for years. It's not just the money. Want that atmosphere again," Maden said post-match, per Jannik Schneider.
