Albert Costa shares what Alexander Zverev has to do better at Majors

2002 French Open champion Albert Costa thinks German tennis star Alexander Zverev needs to finish his matches quicker in the early stages of Grand Slams as that would give him a bigger chance of making a deep run. 

The fifth-seeded German didn't make a convincing start to his French Open campaign as he needed five sets and more than four hours of action to edge out world No. 56 John Millman 7-6 (4) 6-3 2-6 6-7 (5) 6-3. 

Zverev, an 11-time ATP champion, has won three Masters 1000 titles and won the 2018 Nitto ATP Finals title so far in his career but hasn't yet made a breakthrough at the Grand Slam level. 

The 22-year-old, who has never made a Grand Slam semi-final, won't have an easy job of doing so at Roland Garros as he has been struggling with his form and confidence this clay season. 

"(Zverev) has to be more focused in Grand Slam matches to be more fit. Otherwise, he won't be the same player in the second week," Costa told Jannik Schneider.

World No. 5 Zverev won't be helping Germany at the inaugural Davis Cup Finals event later this year. 

"It's a pity that he doesn't defend his country in Madrid," Davis Cup Finals Director Costa said.
