Billie Jean King to speak at ITF Worldwide Participation Conference
Billie Jean King, founder of the WTA and prominent figure in the tennis world and History, will participate to the second Worldwide Participation Conference, organized by the International Tennis Federation, as a core speaker. Her 12 singles Grand Slam titles -- framed by 16 trophies in Major doubles and 11 in Major mixed doubles --, as well as her legendary victory of the battle against Bobby Riggs on May 13, 1973, place King in a favorable place to discuss improvement in the sports world. The American former player has recently been appointed as the first-ever Global Ambassador for the Fed Cup.
The Worldwide Participation Conference, which will be held on Sunday 7 and Monday 8 July 2019 at Chelsea Football Club’s Stamford Bridge stadium in London, will focus on the exchange of experience and ideas mostly regarding “the retention in sport and physical activity participation” according to the ITF.
As reported by the ITF, Miguel Crespo -- the organization’s Head of Participation and Coaching -- has declared about the conference, “This year’s programme is close to being finalised and these confirmed speakers highlight the breadth of topics and organisations who will share their experience and case studies related to the Conference topics. The second edition of the ITF Worldwide Participation Conference promises to be even more engaging and interactive compared to last year, particularly with the focus of ensuring greater retention in sport and physical activity participation.”
A list of largely more than ten experts and personalities who will present a speech during the meeting has been released for public consultation; names figuring on it include ITF President David Haggerty and ITF Executive Director Luca Santilli.
