Gilles Simon speaks on upcoming Queen's final against Feliciano Lopez
French tennis player Gilles Simon aadmits he expects a very tough final against Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.
The Frenchman came from a set down to beat rising Russian star Daniil Medvedev 6-7 (4) 6-4 6-3 in the semifinal.
On the other side, 2017 Queen's champion Lopez also came from a set down to beat teenage sensation Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-7 (3) 6-3 6-4 to reach the final.
Lopez, 37, leads the against 34-year-old Simon 5-2.
On grass, Lopez has a 3-0 head-to-head against Simon.
Lopez and Simon have already played a final at a grass-court event.
In 2014, Lopez and Simon met in the Eastbourne final -- which the Spaniard won after a three-set battle.
"I have a tough record against Feliciano, especially on grass," Simon said ahead of the final, per Metro UK.
"I lost the final against him in Eastbourne already. He’s a difficult player to beat on grass. He keeps the ball low. He has this huge serve that is giving him a lot of free points. And then he’s moving really well and covering well the court.
"So it’s gonna be a physical match, also. And I hope I will be ready for that."
