Handing Queen's wildcard to Feliciano Lopez was easy and right decision

Handing a Queen's main draw wildcard to proven grass-court specialist Feliciano Lopez was an easy and, eventually the right decision, by the tournament organizers. 

Lopez, 37, didn't make the Queen's main draw cut as his ranking plummeted following his not-so-great start to the season. 

However, that wasn't a problem as the Queen's organizers didn't forget Lopez, who has been one of the most regular participants of the Queen's event for the last decade and a half, 

Despite not having a great year and being far from his best, Lopez once again delivered on the grass courts of Queen's as he won both singles and doubles title. 

On his way to winning the title, Lopez clinched four three-set wins as he beat Marton Fucsovics, Milos Raonic, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Gilles Simon.

Lopez was due to meet Juan Martin del Potro in the round-of-16 but the injured Argentine was forced to pull out of the match. 

On the other side, Lopez delighted the home crowd by helping Andy Murray to win the doubles title -- in what was the Briton's first tournament since undergoing a hip resurfacing surgery in January. 

It was a dream week for Lopez, who climbed up 60 places to No. 53 in the world following his winning run. 

Also, the Lopez Queen's story will certainly go down as one of the best stories of the 2019 season.
