Nick Kyrgios: I wasn't tired because I played FIFA until 03:00 am
Australian tennis ace Nick Kyrgios insisted he didn't feel tired on Thursday because the night before he stayed up until 03:00 to play FIFA.
Kyrgios exited the Queen's event in the round-of-16 after a tight loss suffered to rising Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime.
The Australian had to play two matches on Thursday as the rain delayed his first round match.
Kyrgios successfully won his opening match in Queen's as he handed a straight-set defeat to Spanish lucky loser Roberto Carballes Baena 7-6 (4) 6-3. Per Ben Rothenberg, Kyrgios muttered to himself on the court: “So lazy, do something, so lazy you are. You were playing FIFA until 3am, what do you expect?”
Later that day, Kyrgios fell just short of beating Auger-Aliassime as the Canadian won 6-7 (4) 7-6 (3) 7-5 in two hours and 13 minutes.
When asked would he attribute his tiredness to playing FIFA until 03:00 am, Kyrgios said, as revealed by Ricky Dimon on Twitter: "No, no. I didn't link that toward my tiredness at all, did I?"
Kyrgios then acknowledged that it is a normal thing that a player gets tired after having to play multiple matches on the same day.
"No. That's what happens when you play a couple of matches that go for a couple of hours. You tend to be tired," Kyrgios added.
