Radu Albot, Mackenzie McDonald withdraw from ‘s-Hertogenbosch

Moldova’s Radu Albot and American rising star Mackenzie McDonald both won’t be opening their respective grass seasons in the opening week of the grass season as they have withdrawn from ‘a-Hertogenbosch.

World No. 40 Albot, who is enjoying a breakthrough season on the tour, was expected to make his debut appearance on the grass of ‘s-Hertogenbosch as he has no previous appearances at the tournament. 

On the other side, the 24-year-old American won’t be making back-to-back appearances at the Dutch grass event. 

McDonald, ranked at No. 66 in the world, made the quarter-final in his -s’Hertogenbosch debut before losing to French Jeremy Chardy. 

Meanwhile, places in the ‘s-Hertogenbosch main draw have opened for rising French star Ugo Humbert and 2017 Wimbledon semi-finalist Sam Querrey following the withdrawals of Albot and McDonald. 

Next up on the list is rising Australian star Jordan Thompson, who needs one player withdrawal to directly enter the ‘s-Hertohenbosch main draw. 

Thompson, who made the French Open third round last week, is set to kick off his grass season at this week’s Surbiton Challenger. 

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen will Albot and McDonald be forced to miss any more events during the grass season.
