Andy Murray to play Washington doubles with brother Jamie

Andy Murray will continue his comeback in the Washington Citi Open. The British player has taken a wild card to play with his brother Jamie in the doubles draw. The former world No. 1 had made his return to the Tour last month at Queen's, then played in Eastbourne and Wimbledon. In the All England Club, he competed with Serena Williams in mixed doubles and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in men's doubles.

Mark Ein, the new owner of the tournament, said: “They called us and said Andy really wanted to come back to D.C. and wanted to play doubles with his brother. We’re putting a real focus on doubles at the event — it’s a terrific piece of the competition and entertainment value for fans — so we were thrilled he wanted to return.”

Murray said: “I’m obviously very excited to be on the court with him (Jamie) and also to go back to Washington. It’s a city I’ve always enjoyed visiting so it should be fun. I’m hoping to have a good summer over in the States, keep progressing physically and hopefully get back on the singles court soon.”
