Roger Federer shares the hardest path of his way to the top of tennis

Roger Federer commented on how he managed to fulfil his potential. The Swiss was a controversial character when he was younger as he broke rackets and was not focused on the tennis court. "I used to be a talent but it's not always easy to be a talent. It's great to be a talent but breaking through for me was the hardest part. People were questioning me like, Was I going to be the talent that was never going to have big results. That was when I lost in the first round in 2003 at the French Open. Then I went on to win Wimbledon and the rest is history."

On how he keeps the motivation high, Federer concluded: "For me, it's quite easy because I get a chance to play on Center Courts around the world, I have seen a lot of the places many times so I have a lot of friends in each city that I visit. Training, that's most challenging, to make training. So I tried to practice in new places, have fun practice partners and the team is crucial for me. They are the ones that tell me, Let's do the running, the jumping, this exercise in tennis today. This is what we do in treatment today. And all these things make it so worthwhile and then if you win a little bit, it's more fun."
