Roger Federer shares the legend of the past he would like to face
Roger Federer was asked what legend of the past he would like to face. The Basel native replied: "Maybe there is something intriguing about playing Bjorn Borg I guess. Because I have heard so much of him, he has retired so early and he was so incredibly good for the game that playing Bjorn Borg would be probably really special."
Asked if he has ever played on carpet, Federer said: "Growing up I played a lot on the carpet. We had a lot of those carpet indoor tennis courts in Switzerland, that was really one thing I was practising on a lot actually when I was 10 years old."
What advice would he give younger players? "Tons of advice. First, number one, you have got to enjoy it. Practice hard what you are trying to achieve, gotta listen to your coaches and parents. I think you got to start making fitness early enough. Not in a crazy way but working on co-ordination, that's great to be doing that."
How often does Federer get nervous? "I might even get nervous during practice sometimes because I do want to do well and I mess up, and then the chance comes again and you want to do better. So you do get nervous from time to time and the more you get in that condition, the better you deal with it."
