Serena Williams can definitely win her 24th Grand Slam title - Evert

Speaking on ESPN, the 18-time Grand Slam winner Chris Evert praised Simona Halep's win over Serena Williams in the Wimbledon women's final. Evert said: "It was a brilliant game by Simona Halep. She was known as a defensive player but she had an answer for Serena's power, she understood how to get her serve back. I think her movement is the main weapon in her game. I never saw someone reading Serena's serve as well as Simona did, taking the ball early. You cannot say anything about Serena because, for how less tennis she played this year, reaching the final was pretty impressive. It was the first match played against a top ten player. I thought she could be physically better, but now that she is healthy she may play more tournaments prior to the US Open, which could help her. We may see a different Serena in Flushing Meadows. I think she can win her 24th Grand Slam. I never lost confidence in her and I do not think anyone doubts her."

On how it feels to get the lifetime membership of the All England Club, Halep said: "Without pressure, without thinking I have a match tomorrow. I met Philip. He told me, Any time you want, you can come, have dinner, have lunch, playing a little bit tennis. I will come for sure."

This was Halep's second Major win in her sixth final. In 2018, she won the French Open defeating Sloane Stephens in the final in three sets.
