Simona Halep did not let Serena Williams dictate rallies - Wilander

Speaking on Eurosport, the seven-time Grand Slam winner Mats Wilander commented on Simona Halep's win over Serena Williams in Wimbledon. The Swede said: "That was really impressive, she did not let Serena lead the rallies. Also, she served better and stronger as ever, but also very efficient. The biggest surprise is not that she has won, but the way she played. Also, she moved very well and she was careful in defence."
On Bernard Tomic getting a £45,000 fine, Wilander added: "What is my advice? Find something off the court that you really love to do, like playing golf. Then go and play 18 holes there, nine holes here, and then fit in an hour and a half [of tennis] practice with your best friend. Have fun and then you look at this [tennis] as a complete bonus. If you are not having fun, then this [tennis] is a pain in the arse. He has got natural talent in understanding the game and great hands. Physically, he is a bit slower than most players I would say and that is where he could improve the most, his physical explosion part. But a lot of players would say it the other way: 'Man, I wish I could learn the game the way that he understands the game.'"
Halep defeated Williams in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in just 55 minutes. This was her first Wimbledon title. She is the first Romanian to win a Wimbledon title. She is also the first Romanian to reach the finals of the Championships at the All England Club at Wimbledon. After her win, Halep will climb three spots and re-enter the top-five (at no. 4) of the WTA rankings.
