Tennis will be in a good place once Federer,Djokovic, Nadal retire -Insider

In an interview to Tennis World USA, the New York Open Tournament Director Peter Lebeveds commented on how the future of men's tennis looks like once Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic retire from the professional tour. "Tennis is in a good place, there are young players coming up. Who comes up after Connors and McEnroe, Sampras qnd Agassi and somebody always came up. Tsitsipas, Zverev, Felix Auger-Aliassime", said Lebeveds.

Asked if he sees Federer, Nadal or Djokovic competing in New York one day, Lebedevs replied: It's all up to them, if their schedules fit. They pick where they will play. We'd love to have one of them one day."

On Adrian Mannarino criticizing the New York Open because it's too far away from the city, Lebedevs said: "He had lost the match and he was actually disappointed. Last year we had cars that brought players to the city. Being the first years of the tournaments, players did not know about the event really. When you win matches, you stay on site and it's tough to stay in the city. He likes the event. He was just sad for losing."

On the next player's announcements, he added: "We are trying to get as many high level players as possible. We do not have anybody I can tell you right now."

New York Open replaced Memphis on the ATP Calendar in 2018. Kevin Anderson and Reilly Opelka are on the tournament list winners.
