ATP Doubles: Romain Arneodo e Hugo Nys triumph in Los Cabos final thriller
Monaco's Romain Arneodo and Hugo Nys have captured their maiden ATP title after stunning top seeds Dominic Inglot and Austin Krajicek in the Los Cabos final 7-5 5-7 16-14 in just less than two hours of action.
Inglot and Krajicek appeared to be fully in control of the first set as they led 5-2 after the opening seven games but then lost five games in a row as Arneodo and Nys stole the opener.
Arneodo and Nys then started the second set with an early break but failed to hold on to their serve as Inglot and Krajicek managed to force a decider.
After making a big effort to save five championship points -- Inglot and Krajicek blew their two championship points -- before Arneodo and Nys finally converted their seventh championship point to win a tight final.
Elsewhere, No. 2 seeds Philipp Oswald and Filip Polasek overcame fourth seeds Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen in straight sets 6-4 6-4 to win their maiden ATP doubles team title at the Generali Open in Kitzbuhel.
Oswald, 33, and 34-year-old Polasek didn't face a single break point in an hour and nine minutes of play as they made the most out of the two breaks they earned in the final.
Oswald and Polasek have gotten their revenge over Gille and Vliegen, who beat them in straight sets in the Gstaad final a week ago.
Oswald and Polasek have now played six consecutive finals together as, after winning four Challenger titles in a row, the two ended runners-up in Gstaad before winning it all in Kitzbuhel.
