Bianca Andreescu: 'I told Serena Williams that she's a beast'
In an interview to The National, Bianca Andreescu commented on how it felt like to be described as an "old soul" by her opponent Serena Williams during the Rogers Cup prize ceremony in Toronto on Sunday last week. The Canadian said: "I knew what to say because I've been through that. I mean, we all go through things differently, but I have an idea of what it's like to be injured and having to pull out of matches. I told her that she's a beast and that she's going to bounce back really quick. She is a champion on and off the court and she's an inspiration."
Andrescu has some major goals ahead of the rest of the year. She aims to go far in the US Open and raise on the rankings. "I'm definitely not satisfied. This is an amazing win. This is very special to me. But I have very big dreams and I don't settle for anything less than what I want. I really hope that I can crack the top 10 now and play in the WTA Tour finals by the end of the year."
Andreescu also added: "I love to read self-help books about the mind, how the mind works. Because the mind is an incredible tool. You basically can create your own reality with your mind. And ever since I started doing that and working on that, it's been showing the past couple of months, and I'm really grateful for that. So I'm not going to change anything and I'm going to continue."
