Coco Gauff inspires kids on first day of school: “Work hard. Dream big…”
Wimbledon sensation Cori ‘Coco’ Gauff gave a pep talk to children on the start of the new academic year and donated no less than 150 backpacks to stimulate them.
Gauff welcomed and high-fived the kids that just started the new school year at the Village Academy.
The School District of Palm Beach County, the tenth-largest public school district in the USA, was very happy to have the Wimbledon sensation with them at such an important event of the year. They even posted on their Facebook page.
“What a lineup! First day of school greetings at Village Academy this morning from Alpha Phi Alpha, community members, and special guest Coco Gauff. Fantastic start to the new school year!”
Besides welcoming children, Coco followed the example of many top tennis players and made a charity act. She donated no less than 150 backpacks to the Village Academy school. Also, Gauff held a motivational speech to encourage and inspire the new generations.
“Work hard. Dream big. Anything is possible”, was Coco’s main message.
Coco followed with a Facebook post.
Gauff’s gesture shows the humbleness and the spirit of a world class tennis player. Her former juniors coach, Maureen Diaz, commented a few days before on Coco’s behavior – in an itftennis.com interview.
“It is incredible to see her maturity and how she is handling the pressure. The way she handles herself makes me very proud. She is very gracious and very humble. To this day, when she sees me, she greets me – nothing has changed. The big tournaments haven’t changed her. She is still very hard-working also and that is one of the great things about her”, said Diaz.
