Despite off-court struggles, Alexander Zverev aims to go far in Cincinnati
It has not been a good season so far for Alexander Zverev. The German player is involved in a legal dispute with his agent Patricio Apey and he is also having tough times with his girlfriend Olga with who he split and then reunited. Speaking about how his week in Montreal went, Zverev said: "I reached the quarter-finals but I did not play at my best. I played a great first round, then got lower and I hope I can change it here. I have never won a match in Cincinnati so far in my life. This may be my breakthrough week, I am excited to be back here."
"It's also about life outside the court", added Zverev. "think my life has come down now a little bit. I always put the practice in, both on and off the court, in the gym. So I was never worried about it. I hope I would come back."
On how he deals with humidity, Zverev said: "I am somebody who likes the heat, I have always enjoyed it. Being from Germany, we have a lot of bad weather growing up. It's something I enjoy."
On Andy Murray's come back: "I am very excited to see him play, we missed him a little bit. We will see how it goes."
Zverev lost to Robin Haase in last year's Cincinnati opening round while in 2017 after winning Washington and Montreal titles, he lost to Frances Tiafoe.
