Federer and Nadal joining Djokovic in the Council is good, says Medvedev
Daniil Medvedev commented on what he thinks about Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer joining Novak Djokovic in the Player Council. The Russian said: "I actually didn't know this till yesterday when it was announced. I know I'm young, and honestly, I don't know much how the players council works. I know a little bit. So I think probably for sport it's good. That's all I can say."
Asked if he expected Dominic Thiem to perform stronger in their quarter-finals match, Medvedev replied: "I was expecting a tougher match. I was happy that I was able to play so well, to beat him so easily. It saved me a lot of energy. It gave me a lot of confidence, so I'm very happy."
In an interview with the ATP, Medvedev spoke about the crowd support saying they adopted him. Was he really serious? "Yes, I didn't know that word. My French is not perfect. But, yes, I believe this is the reason. After the match, everybody says, Oh, you speak French, Daniil. I think this brings the crowd to support me. It's funny."
Medvedev also commented on how it felt to attend Taste of Tennis night in Washington: "It was really fun because it was my first time doing it. I heard a lot about it that there were good food and stuff but never saw it. In fact, I didn't have to cook anything. Everything was ready, so I just had to put the soup in the thing with the spoon and then the second one I was putting mango sauce on a lobster cake. But what I can say is that the food was amazing there, and it's really fun, and it's for a good cause."
