I am ready to try to win US Open this year, says Alexander Zverev
In an interview to Gazzetta dello Sport Alexander Zverev spoke about the past success of German tennis with Boris Becker and Steffi Graf, multiple former Grand Slam winners. The world No. 5 said: "It's definitely true that in the past we had amazing athletes including great tennis players. Now there is a female champion like Angie Kerber. Me too... I hope to get to the highest level as soon as i can. We will see how it goes, even if the most important thing for me is to improve, match by match."
"Obviously from the next one! So it's Us Open."
What is his best quality on court? "It's difficult to answer, I think each player is somehow unique. I am a guy who fights without giving up until the last point."
Asked how his off-court life is, Zverev replied: "i do not do many things. Everything is about tennis and consistently looking for improvements. I try to never think about what I am losing compared to many people of my age, also because in the end that's the life I want and that's what makes me happy."
Asked if he likes being famous, Zverev replied: "Yes to be honest. I love my fans and it's nice when people recognizes me, I like to think they follow me. That's an extra motivation to do my job properly."
