I won't be with Novak Djokovic in Cincinnati, says coach Vajda
In an interview to Espreso, Novak Djokovic's coach Marian Vajda said he will not be with the Serbian player in the training sessions those weeks in Marbella, Spain, and then in Cincinnati for the Western & Southern Open. "My daughter will give birth in the end of July or early August. I want to be home for those few weeks, then I will join Novak in New York," said Vajda. The 2001 Wimbledon winner Goran Ivanisevic, who recently joined Djokovic team, will probably be there.
Meanwhile the Marseille Open Tournament Director Jean-Francois Caujolle commented on Djokovic's influence in the Player's Council where he has been the President since 2016. "Not all the players are behind him. The Serb puts a bit of pressure. He has a strong temperament for it. He managed to change some balances. But it's better that it's Djokovic to speak rather than a world No. 50 or 180," said Caujolle.
Djokovic is training with his brother Marko those days. He already announced that won't play the Rogers Cup in Montreal in order to take a proper rest following his amazing and tiring Wimbledon run that ended with a success over Roger Federer in the final. Federer is training with Viktor Galovic in Switzerland on hard courts under Croatian coach Ivan Ljubicic who has been working with the Basel native since the end of 2015. Federer also hit with players like Dan Evans and Miomir Kecmanovic this year in his country.
