Naomi Osaka is already a legend, says Iga Swiatek
Iga Swiatek defeated Caroline Wozniacki in a three-set match, 1-6 6-3 6-4, to reach the third round and book a clash against Naomi Osaka at the Rogers Cup in Toronto. In an on-court interview, Swiatek said: "It's amazing. I'm feeling great. I mean, I'm really tired, and I should be sleeping right now! I'm not used to this! It was a really tough match. Actually, at Roland Garros, I had a tough match like this against Halep, and I didn't handle the pressure well. I just wanted to play better here and play point by point. The first set was really tough, and I just needed time to play the points from the right positions. I'm just glad I did it."
On her next match against the two-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka, Swiatek concluded: "Ooh! It's going to be exciting. Naomi is a great player, already a legend. I just want to do my best and give a show. Even if I lose, I hope to show my best tennis and that's possible."
On her win over Tatjana Maria, who retired after losing the first set 6-2, Osaka said: "I thought I played really well despite the fact that we only played one set. I think that I was able to do what I wanted, which was going for the shots that I had the opportunity to. And, of course, there were, like, a couple of unforced errors, but I think that's part of the process. For me, I'm just happy that it was my first match in a while and I was able to get in the groove of things quickly."
