Nick Kyrgios is a clown, says Moselle Open tournament director
In an interview to We Love Tennis, the former player and Moselle Open's current Tournament Director Julien Boutter commented on Nick Kyrgios's controversial behaviour. The Frenchman said: "Now there are many reason sto speak about you, generate buzz and all the rest. Either you get results on the court or we make it on social media. Nick clearly made his choice. He is very talented and he is creative enough."
Asked if he would like to bring Kyrgios to Metz, Boutter replied: "Nick Kyrgios, what Tournament Director would not like to have him? I ask you about it. He became a real attraction, whatever he says he is original. He is a character, whether you like him or not. He is a clown, a player that gives real chances to a tournament director in terms of communication and that makes your event popular."
Asked if Kyrgios may be compared to Marat Safin, Boutter concluded: "Safin was the world No. 1, a two-time Major winner, he was not really a bad boy, he was a strict person and that's why he sometimes cut the limit. But he never showed a lack of sportsmanship. It's true he broke more racquets than anybody but it does not mean anything."
