Novak Djokovic: 'The pain was almost unbearable against Londero'
Speaking to Serbian media Novak Djokovic commented on his arm injury that influenced him in Cincinnati and here at the US Open. The Serb got past Juan Ignacio Londero on Wednesday despite suffering a lot. "The pain was almost unbearable at some point, I felt pain while tossing the ball. I hope that we will be able to reduce the pain significantly so that I could play the third round", admitted Djokovic.
"We did an ultrasound (earlier) and the results had shown that there are no damages. I don't believe that this can be a long-term issue. At least that is what the specialists say. This is uncomfortable because we are at a Slam, but we'll find a way."
Speaking on Amazon Prime the former world No. 4 Greg Rusedski commented on Djokovic's arm issues during his second round match win at the US Open against Juan Ignacio Londero. The British pundit said: “It seems so but it’s quite interesting, Londero played very well in those first two sets, we have to give him credit. But then Djokovic put down the hammer in the third set and found a way to get through. Hopefully it’s just muscular. The nice thing about it, it’s on his left side, not his playing arm. Hopefully he can get some dry needling in there, get the muscles relaxed. If it’s not a tear or anything like that, I think he should be able to manage it. Most guys are dealing with injuries, aches and pains. It’s nice to see that he’s actually being honest about the situation because then it’s easier to cope with the situation.”
