Dusan Lajovic: I enjoy to coming back to Chengdu, I feel good playing here
No. 5 seed Dusan Lajovic was satisfied with the way he performed and how he handled the things in the court in the key moments to overcome a tricky first round clash at the Chengdu Open against world No. 55 Juan Ignacio Londero.
Lajovic, ranked at No. 29 in the world, easily won the first set against the Argentine 6-2 before the rain interrupted the play for four and a half hours.
Londero, who claimed his maiden ATP title in Cordoba earlier this year, benefited from the delay as he won the second set to force a decider but Lajovic kept his focus to clinch a 6-2 4-6 6-4 win and set up a round-of-16 clash against Lloyd Harris.
"I feel good about my win. It wasn’t easy to play today because we had to go off the court many times because of the rain delay. In the second set I lost my focus a little bit and lost the set and had to wrap my head around that. But I’m happy that I had an early break in the third and another one which helped me because I lost my serve once," Lajovic said post-match, per Tennis TourTalk.
Former world No. 23 Lajovic made the round-of-16 at the inaugural edition of Chengdu in 2016, before making the quarterfinal at the tournament a year later.
"I feel good playing here in Chengdu. It’s a nice city, nice tournament, good organization and I enjoy coming back," Lajovic insisted.
