Naomi Osaka's Wimbledon run was not acceptable, says Bartoli

The 2013 Wimbledon winner Marion Bartoli criticized the women's tennis and lack of consistency. The former French player said: "When I look at Angelique Kerber, it seems difficoltà to me that she won three Majors and in general girls lose motivation when they get to the top. It may be because of social media, the interaction with fans and the extra court commitments. I thought after the Australian Open Naomi Osaka could have been more consistent and instead she dropped a lot. The way she played at Wimbledon was inacceptable for a world No. 1. I hope the top players get more consistent in the next months."

Flavia Pennetta added: "ATP and WTA should keep working together. Watching a men's and women's tournament in the same tournament, different gamestyles, is nice. Also because seeing a men's match is funny, but you often see only serve, serve and serve... We can give something extra each other. Now the top players have more ups and downs, but it's interesting to see a tournament because you never know who will win. Now the non top players level' is higher than some years ago, so there is more balance."

The former player Anna Dmitrieva commented on Stan Wawrinka's US Open fourth round win over Novak Djokovic. The Russian said: "Unlike Federer or Djokovic, Wawrinka feels he needs to play tournaments ahead of the Majors. He has reached the level he had prior to the injury. Wawrinka was consistent on the key moments, largely improving his game. And Djokovic played worse than he usually did, I do not know if it's because of his injury or not. Novak is not in the best physical condition and Stan is doing well. Now he faces Daniil Medvedev next. Everything depends on the Russian: if he keeps strong, he will be able to deliver his game. At Wimbledon Daniil, who was not as strong as he was in the North American hard-court swing, defeated Wawrinka. He headed into the US Open being for the first time one of the favorites. He cannot hide the expectations and interest around him. He is a very emotional person."
