Roger Federer: 'I was impressed with Auger-Aliassime's work ethic'
In an interview in the French Open Roger Federer commented on the 19-year-old Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime's improvements. The Swiss player said: "He is a very strong player. It has been amazing the way he has grown over the last six months. I was not surprised because he came to Dubai to train with me. I was highly impressed with his work ethic and already his mental strength ... he’s got a big tennis IQ and he’s probably never really satisfied, he always wants to learn more. He has got a great character, super nice guy, I hope he will get more success in his career and I am sure he will, no doubt about it, do not want to put pressure on him. He will achieve great things. I will follow him very closely in Paris."
Analyzing his win over Nikoloz Basilashvili in the Lyon Open semifinals, Auger-Aliassime said: "It feels great. I came here because I thought maybe something good could happen. I felt good two years in a row in this city and here I am in the final, still haven't lost in this city, so it feels pretty good. I can't ask for anything better. It was tough matches throughout the week, but I think I've been able to get through every time against tough opponents. I'm glad with the work I did and hopefully I can push one more time."
