Gael Monfils reveals he is dealing with burnout
French tennis star Gael Monfils' main goal for the rest of the season is to finish the year ranked inside the top-10.
World No. 13 Monfils improved his chances of finishing the year inside the top-10 on Wednesday after beating fellow compatriot Benoit Paire in the Paris Masters second round.
The 33-year-old Frenchman now has a great chance to continue his Paris run as next up for him will be world No. 50 Radu Albot.
"My goal is to finish in the top-10," Monfils said after beating Paire, per We Love Tennis France.
Also, Monfils revealed in his post-match interview that since the Asian swing he has been dealing with a burnout.
The Frenchman won only two matches in three tournaments played in Asia and also lost his opener in Antwerp, before making the Vienna semifinal last week.
The 33-year-old overcame Dennis Novak, Jannik Sinner and Aljaz Bedene in Vienna, before falling short in straight sets to Diego Schwartzman.
Monfils, a former world No. 6, revealed he even didn't want to play Vienna because he "didn't feel good mentally and physically."
