Dan Evans: 'I had lunch and talked with Roger Federer for a long time'
In an interview the British player Dan Evans spoke about how it feels to face Roger Federer. The Brit lost to the Swiss in the US Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open, three of the four Grand Slams. Evans said: “It’s obviously a great experience, especially playing him on Arthur Ashe, Centre Court and the Rod Laver Arena - some of tennis’ best venues. They are stories for when I’m older but unfortunately I’ve come unstuck when I’ve played him. The first time I played him it was difficult but the other times he’s been really good with me so I felt pretty comfortable around him. It was good to get to know him a little bit. He was great when I went to practice with him. We had lunch and talked for a long time.”
Recalling his doping ban, Evans added: "I had to deal with all the fall-out from that. That’s part of the reason I came to Cheltenham. Now I’m comfortable where I live. It’s somewhere a bit quieter, away from the city lights. No-one is to blame apart from myself. It was my own fault. Now it’s all in the past and I’m looking forward.”
For years Chile was seen as a perfect country in South America, since it had a stable economy and controversies rarely happened. That's no longer the case. 20 people died and more than 1,300 people were injured. The situation is so complicated that some events including one with Greta Thunberg were cancelled. The Libertadores Cup Final, that should have taken place on November 23 in Santiago, was moved to Lima, Peru. Roger Federer is supposed to face Alexander Zverev in an exhibition match on November 19 during a South American swing. "The match is confirmed, Roger wants to play for the first time in Chile", organizers told Blick. All the tickets were sold and the cheapest one is $100 worth. Before competing in Chile, Federer is supposed to go to Buenos Aires to face Juan Martin del Potro. The exhibition in Chile may be moved to March 2020 between the Indian Wells and Miami tournaments.
