Daniil Medvedev: Russians always aim for win, we hate to lose

Russian tennis superstar Daniil Medvedev insists it is in his blood to always give his best on the court as from where he comes from you don't let anybody beat you at anything.

The 23-year-old has had an outstanding season, having made nine finals this year and having achieved a career-high ranking of No. 4 in the world.

After earning the biggest title of his career at the Cincinnati Masters, the Russian fell just short of winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open as world No. 1 Rafael Nadal edged out him out in a five-set final.

In other countries a father or mother play some game with the kids and allow them to win, that never happens in Russia, you try to win, that's what I have," Medvedev exclusively told The Daily Mail.

''We have some bad parts of our character like we aren't good at controlling our emotions and I have that as well. I'm working a lot on that."

Medvedev will now be aiming to make a splash in his Nitto ATP Finals debut and finish the year on the best possible way.
