Grigor Dimitrov makes schedule change for 2020 season, committing to...
Grigor Dimitrov is making some schedule changes next year. After the Miami Open, the Bulgarian player will start his clay-court season at the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship that takes place in Houston from 4 to 12 April 2020. Through a statement Dimitrov, who played in Houston only in 2011 reaching the second round, said: “I am excited to get to compete in Houston this year. I haven’t competed there in a number of years, but have great memories and am looking forward to coming back. Houston is one of my favorite US cities and I hope I will have some time to explore the area.”
The Tournament Director Bronwyn Greer said: “Grigor was popular when he first played at River Oaks as a teenager, and his successful career since will only make it that much more exciting to welcome him back. While we’re still 10 days away from putting single session tickets on sale, a player commitment like this makes a lot of us wish the tournament was starting much sooner.”
Dimitrov will then move to Monte Carlo to play the third calendar Masters 1000 tournament. He joins a good field in Houston that already features Casper Ruud, Frances Tiafoe and Sam Querrey.
