James Duckworth aims to achieve new career-high ranking in 2020
Australian world No. 100 James Duckworth has revealed that he wants to play even more attacking tennis next season as he aims to improve his career-high ranking of No. 82 in the world.
After picking up first round exits in Brisbane, Sydney and Australian Open, the 27-year-old Australian didn't play in main draws of any ATP or Grand Slam events as he spent the rest of the season on the Challenger Tour.
Duckworth, who achieved a career-high ranking of No. 82 in 2015, started this past season ranked at No. 234 but managed to finish it inside the top-100 after being one of the most successful players on the Challenger Tour in 2019.
"I’m going to be doing everything I can to get my ranking above my career high of 82. I’m going to try and continually improve my aggressive style of play," Duckworth told The First Serve.
Duckworth also thinks that world No. 120 Chris O'Connell, world No. 160 Alex Bolt and 162nd-ranked Andrew Harris will have a shot at making the top-100 next season.
"There’s a number of players coming through who could crack the top 100 next year - Chris O’Connell, Marc Polmans, Andrew Harris, Alex Bolt, there’s a number of them coming through," Duckworth said.
