Jannik Sinner reflects on Miomir Kecmanovic win at Next Gen ATP Finals
Rising Italian star Jannik Sinner didn't hide his enormous happiness and excitement after reaching the final at The Next Gen ATP Finals in front of his home fans in Milan.
Sinner, seeded at No. 8, recovered from a set down to beat fifth-seeded Miomir Kecmanovic 2-4 4-1 4-2 4-2 in their semifinal clash.
After earning the first break of the match in the third game of the first set, Kecmanovic routinely held on to his serve to win the opener.
Unfortunately for Kecmanovic, the break he earned in the first set turned out to be his lone break of the match as Sinner claimed one break in each of the following three sets to stage a comeback.
"It’s unbelievable. I didn’t feel so well in the beginning and he was playing very good, very aggressive. I’ve never had this kind of feeling, so I’m very happy,” Sinner said, per the Next Gen ATP Finals website. “I think I’ve done a great job.”
Next up for Sinner will be No. 1 seed Alex de Minaur, who beat Frances Tiafoe to progress into the final in Milan.
"He (de Minaur) played an unbelievable season,” Sinner said. “He’s won three [ATP Tour] tournaments. I’ll just try my best.”
