Judy Murray Reignites a Seven-Year-Old's Love for Tennis

Tennis - Judy Murray, the former Fed Cup captain for Britain and mother of Andy Murray and Jamie Murray, made a seven-year-old delighted as she took a one-on-one lesson with her durinng a tennis camp.

Seven-year-old Harriet Smith had the opportunity of a lifetime with Judy Murray during a tennis camp in Qunita da Lago, Portugal.

The youngster was attending a tennis camp and arrived before the other attendees for the camp whch gave her a complete 90 minutes extra to practice her serve with Judy Murray one-on-one.

Phillipa Smith, the mother of Harriet, commented, “Harriet is a lovely little tennis player but she had lost a bit of love for the sport recently. Judy brought that love flooding back. As the camp started on the Sunday morning not all participants had flown in and she was lucky enough to get a full hour and a half lesson one on one with Judy on that day. It was just an incredible experience for her to have such a tennis icon all to herself. It was a four-day course in total. Judy was such a wonderful lady and Harriet absolutely loved the coaching methods she used. She found it so fun. There were lots of little games to improve hand eye co-ordination and movement. Harriet couldn’t stop smiling all the way through it. She’s since been watching clips of Judy Murray on Strictly Come Dancing too - she loves her - and tennis again.”

Judy Murray has been working with various tennis camps across the United Kingdom and her native Scotland to work on the grassroots level to make the sport popular.
