Li Na Says Rolex Has Helped Tennis Flourish in China

Tennis - China's Li Na says that Rolex, which is the official timekeeper and title sponsor of the Shanghai Masters, has invested in the sport of tennis and the sport has flourished in China due to the same. The Chinese superstar has been a Rolex Ambassador since 2011 and was an official guest in the Rolex Box during this year's Masters Series event.

Speaking to South China Morning Post,  the two-time Grand Slam champion commented, “Rolex is well known throughout the world as one of tennis’ greatest supporters, but this is especially true in China. Rolex has supported me for the last eight years, but for nearly 15 years it has invested in the game here and, as a result, the sport has truly flourished. Through its relationship with the Rolex Shanghai Masters, it has provided Chinese tennis fans with some incredible moments over the last decade and for that, I will always be grateful.”

Li mentions that after her match at the Qatar Open in 2010, she recalled seeing a feminine Oyster Perpetual Datejust with a pink floral dial and diamond bezel and told herself she would buy the same one day when it was available, only to get the same watch gifted to her when she was invited by Rolex. “I told myself I was going to buy it when it was available; I didn’t mention it to anyone. When Rolex invited me to [its] family of ‘Testimonies’ in 2010, they presented me with a watch. I opened the box and it was the same watch I had wanted!.

Rolex is currently a partner with all the four Grand Slams and is the official timekeeper of the China Open since 2005. It is also the official timekeeper of the WTA Finals this year which is being held in Shenzhen, China for the first time.
