Roger Federer didn't have time against Thiem in ATP Finals loss - Courier

Speaking on The Tennis Channel the former world No. 1 Jim Courier spoke about Dominic Thiem's win over Roger Federer at the ATP Finals in London. The American said: "Thiem used massive power. Federer didn't have time, he was basically hitting half volleys all day long not wanting to give up ground because he doesn't like to pull back and rely on his defense but Thiem played a sparkling match, he really did earn it. He's 5-2 against Federer in lifetime, that is rare."

Federer's former coach Paul Annacone added: "When Thiem can get up on the baseline which he did today and Roger does not serve at his body, it's a problem because Thiem gets the cuts and turns to the offence. Thiem's serve is so heavy and when you have a kick serve like Thiem does, and you get it up high on a one hander, it's so difficult for Roger to get control the point. Thiem did a great job strategically."

Courier finally spoke about Jannik Sinner's Next Gen ATP Finals title: "When the Federation spends money organizing Futures and Challengers, you have opportunities to play in professional events. He did not play at a junior level, he did not care. This guy is so impressive for his firepower and his composure. He was even given a wild card to play the tournament."
