Roger Federer will reach Major final in '20, may win title - Former player

In an interview with Sport Express, former world No. 5 Anne Chakvetadze spoke about Roger Federer's ATP Finals semis loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas and the chances the Swiss can have next year. "Do not be too focused on the year-end tournament, it's a unique event where there is not too much time to recover. In the Grand Slams, Roger still has an opportunity, there is more time to recover and there are easier early rounds. Until the quarter-finals, there are not so many difficult matches and he knows how to beat guys who are not (ranked in the) top 20. I think next year Federer will reach a Major final and possibly win it."

On Daniil Medvedev's level dropping, Chakvetadze added: "He paid the price for the physical effort he made in the previous months. If you think you can play ten tournaments at such a high level, you make a big mistake. He also went to Asia, he won there and coming back to Europe he was not successful. It's very difficult for younger guys to backup results. Karen Khachanov did not do too well this year. Next year will be tougher for Medvedev as everyone expects something special from him. I understand he did not play Davis Cup this week. Next year I would like to see some younger guys cracking the top 3. Who knows if Andy Murray will be able to come back. The new season can feature many upsets. Tsitsipas, (Alexander) Zverev, (Matteo) Berrettini all have chances."
