Uncle Toni backs Rafael Nadal to win Davis Cup Finals in Madrid

In an interview Rafael Nadal's uncle Toni commented on Spain possibly winning the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid. Toni believes his nephew can play a crucial role. "Spain has chances because they have the world No. 1", the 58-year-old said. "It's a pity what happened to Bautista. But both Feliciano and Carreno will do well. I liked how the Davis Cup was before but the top players barely competed. Pique's investment is smart and we need to support him. As for the struggle with schedule, I do not know if it can be solved if you only have three courts."

On the Chilean players, Toni added: "Nicolas Jarry and Christian Garin will stay on the top 100 because they are very quality. I know Garin more and I think he is very complete technique-wise. He struggled making a breakthrough after winning junior Roland Garros (2013), he stopped a bit but improved. Chile has two good players looking to the future even if I do not know if they will be at the same level as Nicolas Massu, Marcelo Rios and Fernando Gonzalez. It will depend on their commitment in trying to evolve."

In an interview Rafael Nadal's coach Francis Roig spoke about the Spanish player's motivation when it comes to give his best in tennis. Roig said: "He plays Laver Cup and plays to die. He likes a lot the team competitions. He ended the year as a number one, he played the ATP Finals and he comes here and enjoys himself. He has a team responsability and he likes it. Feliciano Lopez and Marcel Granollers played very well against Russia but having Rafa you have one more option. He was getting excited even playing the Spanish club championship. Here he comes being very excited and he will play everything he can until his body holds up."
