Gaston Gaudio to captain Argentina at inaugural ATP Cup

Argentine Davis Cup Team Captain Gaston Gaudio will also captain his country at the inaugural edition ATP Cup, per Sebastian Torok of ESPN Tenis.

It's one of rare cases where a country decided to give captaincy for the ATP Cup to its Davis Cup Team Captain. 

Gaudio, who was named the Argentine Davis Cup Team Captain last year, has been doing solid job so far with the team despite not having Juan Martin del Potro available. 

Argentina managed to make it past the Round Robin stage at the inaugural Davis Cup Finals in Madrid but couldn't beat the hosts Spain in the quarterfinal. 

Argentina fought hard against Spain but fell just short as Rafael Nadal and Marcel Granollers edged out Maximo Gonzalez and Leonardo Mayer 6-4 4-6 6-3 in the decisive rubber of the tie. 

Argentina will now be hoping to end on top of Group E in Sydney and make the quarterfinal stage at the ATP Cup, which will be held across three Australian cities from January 03-12. 

Argentina wasn't handed an easy group as they will be battling against Austria, Croatia and Poland.
