India's Yuki Bhambri hopes to claim Pune title
India's Yuki Bhambri has set the highest possible standard for his upcoming Tata Open Maharashtra campaign as he says he doesn't only want to participate in Pune but to contend for the title.
Bhambri, who last played at the European Open in Antwerp last year, missed the full 2019 season to recover from his right knee issues and get back his health to 100 percent. The 27-year-old Indian is set to make his second appearance at the Maharashtra Open as he debuted at the Pune event in 2018.
In his lone Pune appearance, Bhambri saw off fellow compatriot Arjun Kadhe in his opener at the tournament before losing to French world No. 65 Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the round-of-16.
"I want to be able to not just participate but to win. It's one of the tournament's every Indian players looks forward to play, Bhambri said, as revealed on the tournament's Twitter account.
Bhambri, who achieved a career-high ranking of No. 83 in the world in April 2018, was enjoying his best season on the Tour in 2018 before he was struck by health issues.
