Rafael Nadal's coach Francis Roig spoke about if the 33-year-old can be considered as the greatest player ever. Roig said: "It's very difficult to guess who is the better player but as a sportsman, he is among the best in the world, without a doubt. Until he doesn't achieve what he wants, he doesn't get tired."

Toni Nadal said: "The pain is the only thing that influences Rafael's motivation. Working to improve. That's the only thing that depends on us."

Spain's Davis Cup team captain Sergi Bruguera said: "For me, he is the best. He is one Grand Slam away from Federer, but who has 12 French Opens or five Davis Cups and two gold Olympics, besides unbreakable records? He is the best. Tennis-wise he evolved in an unbelievable way. He does everything very well and he is also a very good person, humble and respectful."
