Mark Philippoussis: Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic Will Continue to Dominate in 2020

Former Wimbledon finalist Mark Philippoussis, of Australia, says that men's tennis would continue to be dominated by Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in 2020 while Roger Federer may find it difficult after his disappointing Wimbledon finals loss in 2019.

According to Sportowefakty, Philippoussis says, "I would not dare to say that their (Nadal and Djokovic) dominance will end in 2020. Djoković looks strong. If he stays healthy, he has three to four years of play at the highest level.  Nadal also seems to be fast. I don't think he'll give up anything for a year or two."

Speaking about Roger Federer, the Australian says, "Federer is a different story, and not because I doubt him. Wimbledon was difficult for him. Two wasted match points in the final are a bitter pill to swallow. He will definitely think about it because we know how much he values Grand Slam tournaments. Wimbledon was a chance for him to win the 21st Grand Slam title. If he has an opportunity next year, it may be in London, although after what he has experienced it will be extremely difficult. He may also have a chance at the Australian Open, because in recent years the conditions in Melbourne have been incredibly fast."

Philippoussis is also hopeful that the younger players will battle it out for the Grand Slams in 2020. "I put hope in Stefanos Tsitsipas, Dominik Thiem and Alexander Zverev. I really like Denis Shapovalov, who plays beautiful, but not yet complete tennis. Grigor Dimitrow showed good progress towards the end of the season. He has athleticism and passion, but his problem is his service. You also can't forget about Daniil Medvedev, who will be a tennis player fighting for Grand Slam titles. I hope that one of these guys will take a step forward next year and give us a lot of fun."
