Roger Federer speaks positively of Marton Fucsovics after Australian Open clash
Record 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer spoke highly of world No. 67 Marton Fucsovics after their Australian Open clash.
Federer, seeded at No. 3, came from a set down to avoid a shock loss and make the quarterfinal at Melbourne Park as he beat the top-ranked Hungarian player 4-6 6-1 6-2 6-2.
After losing the first set, Federer drastically lifted his level as he claimed seven breaks and lost his serve only once in the rest of the match to claim a comeback win.
"I think it's just a very steady player. You know what you are going to get. He is not going to surprise you other than maybe just his continuous strength that he shows -- mentally, physically, all that stuff," Federer told reporters after beating Fucsovics.
Fucsovics, 27, won his maiden ATP title in Geneva two years ago, while he reached his career-high ranking of No. 31 in the world last year.
"He really played a great tournament. He beat three young guys through a tough section to make it to the fourth round. I think through this result it's going to give him a lot of confidence moving forward and then we will see him back confident (inside the) top-50 very, very soon," Federer added.
