Borna Coric draws positives from his Rio Open campaign after semifinal exit

World No. 32 Borna Coric was satisfied with his week at the Rio Open despite falling short of winning it all at the tournament in his debut appearance. 

After a disappointing start to the season, the Croatian found a bit of his form in Rio de Janeiro as he made the semifinal before losing in straight sets to third-seeded Cristian Garin. 

Coric, who arrived to the Rio Open on a five-match losing streak, competed solid against Garin but it wasn't enough as this year's Cordoba Open champion won 6-4 7-5. 

Two-time ATP champion Coric's focus now turns to the Indian Wells Masters -- where he made the semifinal two years ago before losing to record 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.

"Obviously I didn't get the result I wanted but at the same time I think I played very well the whole week, it was very positive for me. And it's a very good way to prepare for Indian Wells and Miami, so I'm definitely thinking about coming back to Rio next year," Coric said after losing to Garin, via the tournament's Twitter account.
