Coric explains why is hard to beat Roger Federer,Djokovic and Rafaeel Nadal at Majors

World no. 31 Borna Coric is yet to show his best tennis at Major events, winning 20 out of 40 matches in Melbourne, Paris, London and New York and passing the third round only twice. The 23-year-old Croat is yet to advance into the last eight at Grand Slam tournaments, unlike Stefanos Tsitaipas, Frances Tiafoe, Hyeon Chung, Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev, other youngsters who have found the winning formula at the world's leading events. The Next Gen ATP Finals champions Chung and Tsitsipas were the semi-finalists at the Australian Open in back-to-back years, losing to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal respectively and missing a chance to fight for a Major crown. Daniil Medvedev was the closest to breaking the spell, pushing Rafael Nadal to the limits at the US Open last September before falling in the five sets.

Another contender was Alexander Zverev who advanced into his first Grand Slam semi-final a couple of weeks ago in Melbourne, halted by Dominic Thiem who then fell to Novak Djokovic despite leading two sets to one. Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have won the previous 13 Majors starting from Melbourne 2017, still standing above the young guns and keeping them away from tennis glory, at least at Majors. Competing at this week's Buenos Aires Open, Borna Coric spoke about Federer, Nadal and Djokovic at Majors and how tough it is for the youngsters to beat them on the big scene. The Croat mentioned all the obstacles en route to a Major title in those two weeks and the ability of the experienced players from the top to deal with them and dominate over the rest of the Tour year after year.

"I don't know the reason why the youngsters can't make a breakthrough and win a Major. Still, I do know that it is challenging to play against experienced guys like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, having to keep your level for two weeks and score victories in the best-of-five format; it's hard to stay strong and fresh for so many days. Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are still the best because they know how to do everything right."
