Indian Wells Masters TD Tommy Haas wishes Roger Federer speedy recovery
Indian Wells Masters Tournament Director Tommy Haas wished a speedy recovery to his good friend and ex-rival Roger Federer after the 38-year-old Swiss underwent an arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.
Federer, who skipped the inaugural ATP Cup and then started his season at the Australian Open, had been scheduled to play his second event of the season next week in Dubai.
Federer, an eight-time Dubai champion, is targeting to make a comeback during the grass season as he has also withdrawn from the Masters events in Indian Wells and Miami as well as the French Open.
"We are disappointed that Roger Federer has withdrawn from this year's BNP Paribas Open, but we wish him a speedy and full recovery so he can be competing again soon," Haas said in a statement posted on the tournament's Twitter account.
Federer, who debuted at the Indian Wells Masters in 2001, has made nine finals in his 18 appearances in the desert.
Federer, who has made at least a final in each of his past five appearances in Indian Wells, captured five titles in his nine finals played in the desert.
