Jeanne Evert Dubin, the younger sister of Chris Evert, Passes Away
Jeanne Evert Dubin, the younger sister of former World no. 1 and 18-time Grand Slam champion Chris Evert, has passed away at the age of 62 in Florida after a lengthy illness, according to Tennis Threads website.
Jeanne was ranked as high as No. 42 in the world in 1975 and No. 9 within the United States alone in 1974. She reached the third round of the U.S. Open in 1973 and 1978. She won all 4 of her Fed Cup matches for the U.S. in 1974.
She retired in 1978 and had been working as a coach at the Delray Beach Tennis Center since 2002. Jeanne married Canadian Brahm Dubin in 1979, an accountant who had also worked in the tennis business. The couple had 2 children, Eric and Catherine, and later 4 grand children.
Dubin, a kidney transplant survivor, died of lung cancer in 2006 at the age of 56.
The news had come from some people on Twitter and there has been no official comment from Chris or other members of her family as of now.
We send our deepest sympathy to the Evert family in the loss of Jeanne Evert Dubin. She was a wonderful tennis player and friend of MCB. Thoughts and prayers are with the family. ❤️🙏 #tennis #chrisevert
