Jeremy Chardy becomes father, withdraws from Marseille
French tennis player Jeremy Chardy, 33, has withdrawn from Marseille and he won't be making his sixth main draw appearance at the tournament next week.
Chardy, ranked at No. 61 in the world, became a father this week and he will spend some time with his family before he returns to competitive action.
The 33-year-old Frenchman made the Marseille quarterfinal in 2015 but his remaining four appearances at the tournament ended with a first round defeat.
Following the withdrawal of Chardy, a place in the Marseille main draw has opened for fellow Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert, who will make his third appearance at the tournament next week.
Meanwhile, Australian world No. 83 James Duckworth has pulled out of the Delray Beach Open and he won't be making his debut appearance at the tournament next week.
Duckworth, who is playing in India for the second consecutive week, made the Pune semifinal last week and now he is into the Bengaluru Challenger semifinal.
The Australian will be replaced in the Delray Beach main draw by Henri Laaksonen, who has no past main draw appearances at the tournament.
